Jensen Huang Aims to Help Taiwan Build AI Infrastructure, but Is Taiwan Ready?

Since Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, announced the establishment of an overseas headquarters in Taiwan, many South Koreans have reflected on their own country's performance in the AI sector. However, excitement reigns as OpenAI has declared that Seoul will be the third Asian hub, following Tokyo and Singapore, raising questions about why Taiwan wasn't included.
OpenAI stated that its choice to establish operations in South Korea aims to boost local AI applications and support businesses and policymakers. Notably, South Korea is the country with the second-largest number of ChatGPT paid subscribers outside the United States.
For Taiwan to develop a comprehensive AI ecosystem, hardware alone is insufficient. Manufacturing belongs to the lower tier of the industrial value chain, while consumer applications represent the segment with the highest added value. Jensen Huang is prepared to help Taiwan establish a robust AI infrastructure, but is Taiwan ready to effectively utilize such powerful AI hardware?
