Survey Reveals German Electric Cars Are Most Trusted by Consumers

A recent survey showed that respondents from the U.S., China, France, and Germany rated German electric cars highest in terms of quality trust, leading other national competitors. Manuel Schuler, the head of Automotive at BearingPoint, stated, "We are surprised by the clear advantage of German automakers." The survey indicated that the advantage of German brands ranges between 3 to 7 percentage points depending on the country, which Schuler attributed to the strong brand image built by German car manufacturers over the years.
While some brands rank first in their home markets, such as BYD in China and Honda in the U.S., German brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche consistently follow closely behind, easily surpassing most competitors in most markets, especially ranking at the top in France and Germany.
Schuler pointed out that despite Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers excelling in technology, they face consumer trust issues in international markets. For instance, BYD ranks last in France and is close to the bottom in Germany, reflecting consumer concerns regarding long-term after-sales service and data privacy. Schuler explained, "Customers are unsure whether these manufacturers will still exist in a few years and if they can contact after-sales service personnel for maintenance and repairs."
