Trump to Host South African President Ramaphosa, Musk Also in Attendance

President Trump will host South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House on Wednesday, with billionaire Elon Musk also in attendance. Musk, serving as a special government employee, has long criticized Ramaphosa's policies, accusing his government of systematic persecution of white South Africans and committing "genocide." He has called for the U.S. to take in South African white "refugees."
Last week, Trump reiterated Musk's accusations, raising concerns among Ramaphosa's staff that the White House meeting could serve as a trap to embarrass the South African leader. South African Agriculture Minister John Henry Steenhuisen has strongly condemned the notion of "genocide," calling it nonsense, and he will meet Trump alongside South Africa's Foreign Minister.
On the U.S. side, Vice President Pence, Defense Secretary Esper, and Commerce Secretary Ross are also set to attend. Trump has frequently criticized South Africa's involvement in BRICS and has harshly condemned its role in leading the International Criminal Court's prosecution against Israel.
