Fact-check reveals viral Indian crash video is from Nepal incident

On the afternoon of the 12th, an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner tragically crashed 30 seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad, resulting in over 200 casualties, with only one miraculous survivor. After the incident, a video claiming to show the "cabin footage before the crash" circulated on social media. The fact-checking center stated that this video had already been shared online since 2023 and is not related to the recent accident.

The center explained that the viral video is footage from a 2023 Nepal plane crash, as reported by Indian media outlet Aaj Tak, which detailed an earlier accident involving a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The footage corresponds with that report.

Furthermore, Indian media outlet Boom had already fact-checked this video in 2023, revealing that a passenger named Sonu Jaiswal streamed from Facebook showing the interior of the plane before the crash, which had widely circulated online. The fact-checking center highlighted that this video has been confirmed to be from the 2023 Nepal airplane accident, not the Indian one, by various international fact-checking organizations.
