EDF Integrates Renewable Energy Division, Focusing on Two Offshore Wind Projects in Taiwan

As the global energy transition enters a critical phase, Électricité de France (EDF Group) announced today (18th) the integration of its Renewable Energy Business (EDF Renewables) and International Division into a new brand called "EDF power solutions". This move is spearheaded by the group's Senior Executive Vice President, Béatrice Buffon, and marks a significant step towards realizing the "2035 vision".
The General Manager of EDF Energy Taiwan, Zhang Ming-Lun, stated that EDF Energy Taiwan will leverage the synergies with the group to further promote energy transition and help Taiwan achieve its net-zero emissions target. This integration will further align EDF's operational resources and technical expertise worldwide, enhancing market efficiency and brand consistency.
Currently, EDF Energy has a total of 31 GW of low-carbon energy assets worldwide, covering 25 markets and employing 10,000 staff to provide diverse low-carbon emission technologies such as wind, solar, hydro, and biomass, alongside various technology services for power grid enhancement, storage, microgrids, and electric transport. In Taiwan, since its entry in 2022, EDFR has made substantial progress and will rebrand from "EDF Renewables Taiwan" to "EDF power solutions Taiwan".
The focus will be on two offshore wind projects, including the 440 MW allocated capacity for the "Waves of Blue Changhua Wind Farm" and the planned capacity exceeding 1000 MW for the "Waves of Blue Miaoli Wind Farm", aiming to become one of the leading developers in Taiwan's offshore wind sector. This integration also reflects EDF Group's commitment to low-carbon energy transition. Buffon emphasized, "The establishment of EDF power solutions signifies a key milestone for the group in realizing its global energy vision. Through the integration of renewable energy and international divisions' technical and market advantages, we aim to strengthen our global visibility and play a critical role in energy transition." Moving forward, EDF is expected to maintain its leadership in low-carbon power generation while accelerating energy transition processes in various countries through localized operations, technological innovation, and comprehensive energy solutions.
