FTC Drops Appeal Against Microsoft's Acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Following the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision to uphold its previous ruling, the FTC announced it will no longer pursue an appeal against Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which was argued to affect market competition.

The FTC stated that this decision is made in the interest of the public. The court's previous ruling indicated that it did not perceive Microsoft’s acquisition to impact the gaming market. Furthermore, Microsoft has honored its commitment to provide game access to other developers, allowing content previously exclusive to Xbox to appear on PlayStation and other platforms.

Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, expressed on his platform that this ruling is a victory for gamers across the country and thanked the FTC for its decision.
