Missing Taiwanese Man Found in France Thanks to Online Community Efforts

A 66-year-old Taiwanese man went missing while traveling in France, separated from his family for over 24 hours. His family, concerned for his safety, turned to the social media platform Threads to seek help. Fortunately, on the evening of the 26th, the man's son reported back on Threads, stating, "We have confirmed it is my father; thank you all for your help!"
The man, named Lin, hails from the Shulin District of New Taipei City. He was on a cruise with his family, scheduled to return to Taiwan on May 31. However, around 11 a.m. on the 24th, he went missing while exploring near the Roi René fountain in Aix. Given his previous stroke and diminished memory, he was unable to use a mobile phone and did not speak French, raising concerns for his ability to seek help. As a result, his family urgently posted a request for assistance on social media, detailing his clothing and features, seeking help from locals and Taiwanese overseas.
Once the request was shared, it quickly garnered attention online, with many netizens helping to spread the word. Facebook pages such as "Taïwan en Provence" and "Ji Li Mi" also assisted in sharing the message. Many advised the family to contact local authorities and embassy representatives for immediate support.
Finally, on the evening of the 26th, the son provided an update on Threads, sharing that his father was safe and thanking everyone for their support. He expressed his gratitude, stating that without the shares and attention from everyone, the situation could not have been resolved so swiftly. "May God bless everyone who helped, may your kindness be returned to you," he added.
