Hsieh Chih-Chiang Releases New Book on His Political Journey; Han Kuo-Yu Praises: Brains Over Hair

Former Taichung Mayor Hsieh Chih-Chiang has spent three years preparing to publish a new book documenting his journey from a military dependents' village to the political arena, having served as the Representative to the U.S. and Minister of Foreign Affairs before holding the mayoral office for 13 years. At the book launch, Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-Yu joked that the value of a man does not lie in how much hair he has, but rather in the content of his mind.

Hsieh expressed concern about the blue camp’s threats of recall elections and criticized the Kuomintang for inadequate preparations. Legislator Lai Shih-Pao shared stories of their friendship, mentioning he had a chance to become Hsieh’s deputy mayor but was turned down.

The event saw many prominent figures, including veteran media personality Chen Wen-Chien, who attended in a wheelchair despite being seriously ill. Han praised Hsieh’s extensive political experiences and urged the Kuomintang to enhance its preparations for future challenges.
