Huawei's 5nm Chip Enters Production, Breaking US Sanctions

Following Xiaomi's launch of its self-developed 3nm processor, Huawei has officially announced the mass production of its 5nm Kirin X90 processor. Former legislator Kuo Cheng-liang stated that this signifies Huawei's breakthrough of US chip sanctions, demonstrating China's capability to design and produce 5nm chips independently.

China Central Television announces Huawei's 5nm Kirin X90 processor has entered mass productionKuo emphasized that Huawei's yield rate has reached 82%, a record high, and that the entire process, including chip design, wafer framework, and software, is handled in-house, indicating that the US can no longer impede Huawei's progress.

Former legislator Kuo Cheng-liangKuo further noted that while Xiaomi's 3nm chip design is impressive, it does not match Huawei's achievement due to Xiaomi's focus on the consumer electronics market, which is considerably less involved in military applications. He pointed out that the US still seeks to profit from the Chinese market in consumer electronics but will intervene whenever sensitive areas such as AI, military, or 5G are involved.
