Scholar Predicts Major Earthquake in South China Sea by 2030 Will Trigger Mount Fuji Eruption, Returning Japan to Edo Period

A Japanese scholar predicts that a major earthquake will hit the South China Sea in the 2030s, potentially resulting in an eruption of Mount Fuji that could cause widespread disaster.
In his 1999 work, manga artist Ryuju Ryō predicted a catastrophic earthquake to occur on July 5, with several of his prophetic dreams already coming true, raising alarm across various sectors. Earth science expert Hiroki Kaneda from Kyoto University has asserted that a large earthquake in the South China Sea is inevitable during the 2030s, with significant chances of triggering an eruption of Mount Fuji.
According to reports, a major disaster would disrupt transportation and communication systems in Japan, effectively sending the nation back to conditions resembling the Edo period. Kaneda warns that Mount Fuji is currently in a dormant state that could transition to an eruption at any time, particularly since the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake disturbed the stability of its magma chamber.
