President Lai Attends European Evening Dinner to Thank EU for Supporting Peace in Taiwan Strait

President Lai Ching-te attended the "2025 European Evening Dinner" tonight (29th) and expressed gratitude to various countries for their support of peace in the Taiwan Strait. He emphasized that in the face of ongoing threats from the red supply chain, Taiwan and Europe, along with other democratic nations, will collaborate to create a "non-red supply chain" and hopes to promote the signing of the "Taiwan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement."

In his speech at the dinner, President Lai noted that Europe is Taiwan's third-largest trading partner and stressed the desire to enhance economic cooperation. He stated that Taiwan, in cooperation with Europe, will work to rebuild the global democratic supply chain and introduce the "Global Semiconductor Democratic Supply Chain Partnership Initiative," which goes beyond economic cooperation to represent a commitment to shared values and advanced technology.

Highlighting the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, President Lai also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with democratic allies in Europe and expressed gratitude for the significant support of the EU and European countries for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The event gathered over 800 guests, including Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua and other dignitaries, indicating that Taiwan-EU relations are not only closely connected but will continue to deepen.
