Taipei's World Senior Games Concludes with Expectations for 2027 in Kansai, Japan

The 2025 World Senior Games in Taipei concluded today (30th) in a celebratory atmosphere. Mayor Chiang Wan-an, together with Mr. Bubka, President of the International Senior Games Federation, New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-ih, and representatives from the Kansai region of Japan, gathered to celebrate this sports event that transcends age and geography.
Mayor Chiang emphasized that this edition of the games symbolizes a spirit of inclusiveness in sports rather than merely striving for extremes. He shared touching stories from various participants, including 105-year-old Mr. Sa-wang from Thailand and singer-songwriter Hsiao Huang-chi, who made a triumphant return to judo.
Moreover, 88-year-old Lin Pan-hsiu demonstrated remarkable athleticism, winning gold in multiple events despite health challenges. Chiang participated in a squash competition himself, expressing joy in the experience regardless of the outcomes.
During the closing ceremony, Chiang presented a crystal art piece called “Big Display of Skill” to the Japanese Kansai delegation, which symbolizes hope for the next World Senior Games. He extended heartfelt thanks to all supporters and looks forward to the 2027 event in Kansai.
