Korean Baseball Audience Expected to Exceed 12 Million: Vietnamese National Team Visits for Learning

The popularity of Korean professional baseball is surging, with last year's audience number surpassing 10 million for the first time, and this year it's expected to reach 12 million. Foreign players are also enamored with Korean baseball, as a group of players from the Vietnamese national team visited Korea for training.
Baseball is relatively unpopular in Vietnam, but under the influence of Korea, the national baseball team was established four years ago, inspiring many young people to aspire to play baseball. Despite temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius, the players continue to compete with vigor, refreshing themselves briefly with water.
Park Hyocheol, the Korean coach of the Vietnamese national team, praised the players’ passion for baseball and their vibrant spirit even in the sweltering heat. Vietnamese players indicated their dreams of playing baseball stemmed from the influence of Korean professional baseball.
As Korean professional baseball thrives, the demand for related merchandise has also surged. A Korean broadcaster noted the excitement among fans who not only want to support their teams' jerseys but also to possess merchandise related to the teams.
As of now, the cumulative audience for 405 games has surpassed 7 million, and it is expected to break records this year. Unless weather changes, the total audience is projected to exceed 12.4 million by the end of the year.
However, with the ongoing heat, the KBO league has implemented measures to combat the heat, including extending the halftime break and establishing rest areas for spectators.
