Professor Yeh Yaou-Yuan on US-China Trade Talks and the Challenges of Ukraine-Russia Peace

Professor Yeh Yaou-Yuan has analyzed the US-China trade negotiations, noting that although there is currently a temporary ceasefire, the trend of decoupling continues. He pointed out that the ability to quickly reach preliminary results is due to the fact that not negotiating would lead to greater losses.

Regarding the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, both sides are steadfast in their positions and unwilling to lay down arms. Although former President Trump hopes to mediate, both Ukraine and Russia have their own calculations to consider.

Trump's disputes with Zelensky are simply performances for their respective citizens, and should not be taken too seriously. Discussing Trump's withdrawal from WHO, Professor Yeh stated that while the US may not wish to support the World Health Organization further, this does not necessarily mean it will create another global health organization. Thus, Taiwan's hope of joining another international organization seems unlikely to materialize.

As for the forthcoming South Korean president, regardless of his stance towards China, he will still be constrained by US influence, especially with clever tactics available in tariff negotiations.
