Taiwan Team Wins 18 Awards at Edison Awards, Second Only to the US

At the Edison Awards ceremony, the Taiwan team proudly received 18 awards for their innovative technologies, ranking second globally after the United States. These innovations include leveraging AI technology to enhance leak detection accuracy from the traditional 60-70% to as high as 98%. Tsai Yao-Lung from the Industrial Technology Research Institute noted that by digitizing and AI-fying the processes, abnormal sounds can be effectively detected, improving leak detection efficiency.
Additionally, significant advancements in the biomedical sector were also highlighted. The introduction of a brown thermosensitive hydrogel can form a stable protective membrane between bones, playing an essential role in treating conditions like herniated discs and osteoarthritis.
In the realm of environmental innovations, tech companies have applied semiconductor technologies to develop new methods for steel structure production, significantly reducing carbon emissions. These achievements showcase Taiwan's potential and influence in the global innovation landscape. The Industrial Technology Research Institute emphasized that all R&D aims to address market demands, and future collaborations with biomedical firms and water agencies for large-scale commercial applications are on the horizon.
