Brazil's KC-390 Transport Aircraft Enters Southeast Asian Market, Debuts at Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace Exhibition

Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company, showcased its KC-390 medium military multifunction transport aircraft for the first time at the Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace Exhibition. Equipped with a fly-by-wire control system, the KC-390 offers remarkable performance for various missions, including personnel and equipment transport, airborne operations, aerial refueling, and search and rescue. It has become one of the highlights of the exhibition, symbolizing Brazil's strategic step into the Southeast Asian market.
The KC-390 has a cabin width of 3.45 meters and a height of 2.95 meters, capable of speeds up to 470 knots with a maximum payload of 26 tons. Its cabin features retractable rollers for quick reconfiguration for load, facilitating the rapid loading and unloading of cargo. It can transport two M113 armored personnel carriers or one UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and accommodate 66 paratroopers or 80 armed soldiers.
Moreover, the KC-390 comes with an automated cargo handling air drop system that allows a single loadmaster to complete all tasks inside the cabin. With the addition of the Container Delivery System (CDS) and Low Velocity Air Drop (LVAD) capabilities, it can perform gravity or towed aerial delivery operations with a maximum drop weight of 19 tons. The aircraft exhibits excellent capability for rough field operations, operating under various Southeast Asian terrains and climatic conditions including unpaved or makeshift runways.
The KC-390 is currently in service with Brazil, Portugal, and Hungary and has received orders from several countries including the Netherlands, South Korea, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Sweden and Slovakia have also selected the KC-390 as their future primary transport aircraft. Embraer is simultaneously establishing a logistics support network in the Asia-Pacific region, including a regional headquarters and parts distribution center in Singapore, enhancing industrial cooperation and strategic influence in Southeast Asia.
