Elon Musk Resigns as Head of U.S. Government Efficiency Department to Focus on Tesla

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has announced his resignation from the role of actual head of the U.S. Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), concluding his term as a special government employee. This move allows him to refocus on Tesla's business. According to regulations, special government employees can only serve legally for 130 days a year, and Musk's term was set to expire on May 30 of this year, while the efficiency department is expected to continue operating until 2026.
Following his resignation, Musk will honor his prior commitment to dedicate more time to Tesla. The company's business is closely tied to Musk's public image, meaning his actions can significantly impact Tesla's product sales and stock performance. His prior support for Trump's campaign and efficiency initiatives raised controversy that affected Tesla's sales.
Data indicates that from April 2024 to the end of April this year, Tesla's new car deliveries declined by approximately 13%. In the European market, new car sales halved, while overall electric vehicle sales in the same period grew by 28%. Additionally, Tesla's sales have sharply decreased in Quebec, a city with a high acceptance of electric vehicles.
