International Experts Boost Taiwan's Medical Transition, Discuss Cutting-edge Medical Technologies

With the support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) hosted the 'BIODAY Innovative Medical Device Technology Forum', focusing on key technologies such as biochips, genetic sequencing, semiconductor processes, and microfluidics. The forum deeply explored their application potential and market opportunities in precision medical testing to facilitate the transformation and growth of medical technology.
International experts from the Belgian Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) and the German Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems (Fraunhofer IMS) were invited to support the promotion of next-generation smart medical technologies. Dai Jiancheng, Director of the Industry Technology Division, emphasized the government's active promotion of deep integration of smart medical and chip technologies, centering on 'Chip + AI' to build the momentum for future technological industries.
Additionally, ITRI's Vice President and Director of the Biomedical and Medical Device Research Institute, Zhuang Yaoyu, mentioned that Dr. Lei Zhang from IMEC and Dr. Karsten Seidl from Fraunhofer IMS would share their latest research results, showcasing six research achievements including the innovative 'dual-loop driven chip', which significantly improves gait in patients with Parkinson's disease.
