UK Withdraws 4 Jolly Rancher Candies Amid Cancer-Causing Chemicals Concerns

The Hershey Company’s Jolly Rancher candy series has been flagged by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) for containing potentially cancer-causing chemicals, violating food regulations in the UK. The government is urging consumers not to consume these products and is enforcing checks at retailers.
The FSA reported that several Jolly Rancher candies tested positive for chemical substances such as Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) and Saturated Hydrocarbon Oils (MOSH). These substances are recognized as genotoxic carcinogens, with prolonged exposure posing health risks. While the FSA stated there is no immediate threat, it recommended consumers avoid the following four types of Jolly Rancher candies:
- Jolly Rancher Hard Candy
- Jolly Rancher 'Misfits' Gummies
- Jolly Rancher Fruity 2 in 1
- Jolly Rancher Berry Gummies
The Hershey Company responded by affirming that product safety and quality are their top priorities but cannot guarantee that all products made in the USA meet regulations of other countries. They recommend consumers purchase from trusted sources.
