Hong Kong's Chief Executive Marks 3 Years in Office Discussing Long和's Panama Port Sale: 'Success Shouldn't Come at the Expense of Others'

Hong Kong's Chief Executive, John Lee, will complete three years in office on July 1. In a recent interview with Chinese media, he expressed his commitment to transforming the culture of the Hong Kong government and expediting its administrative processes. Lee also discussed the sale of the Panama port by CK Hutchison Holdings (Cheung Kong), emphasizing the need to balance overall and individual interests while protecting the rights of others. He stated, "I do not wish my success to be built on the harm of others," a principle that should apply to any position.
According to a survey conducted by the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at CUHK, nearly 20% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the government's performance, reflecting a gradual increase in public confidence. Furthermore, he highlighted that the 'one country, two systems' principle has shown strong vitality, with the local economy gradually recovering; exports and imports rose by 11.9% and 11.4%, respectively, during the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year.
