NASA Faces Crisis as Musk Threatens Trump, Raising Concerns

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and U.S. President Donald Trump have recently experienced a tense relationship, drawing global attention. Reports indicate that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Pentagon were initially just observers, but after Musk threatened to retire the "Dragon" spacecraft, the situation quickly escalated.
According to The Washington Post, Trump threatened to cancel the government contract with SpaceX, prompting Musk to announce that Dragon would be retired immediately. Although Musk later retracted his statement, NASA and the Pentagon began to feel uneasy and expedite finding alternative solutions.
A NASA official stated that initially, they found the feud between Trump and Musk entertaining on social media, but when Musk mentioned retiring the Dragon, the situation became serious. Similarly, Pentagon officials realized the gravity of the issue when Musk issued his threat.
NASA requires SpaceX's capabilities to transport astronauts to the International Space Station, and the Pentagon heavily relies on SpaceX to launch military satellites. As SpaceX holds a significant position in government contracts, officials worry about the risks of dependence on a single supplier and have urgently contacted other commercial entities to explore replacements.
