New Round of US-China Talks to Focus on Export Controls and Tariffs

The U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, will join the new round of talks with China starting tomorrow (9th), indicating that export controls will be a key focus of these discussions.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, discussions in the trade war between the U.S. and China have shifted in recent weeks from tariffs to restrictions on essential materials and products needed by both countries. The U.S. will urge the Chinese delegation to expedite the export of rare earth minerals, while China is expected to push for a relaxation of restrictions on exports of jet engines and various technologies.
The trade restrictions have begun to disrupt the global flow of goods and raw materials, and Chinese officials have expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of effective communication channels with the U.S. regarding export controls. Beijing considers these issues crucial to its technological and industrial ambitions.
Moreover, China regards the recent escalation of pressure from the U.S. as a source of increased tension, raising questions about whether any substantial compromises can be achieved during the talks.
