The New York Times reported that Lin's background as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Chthonic has ignited excitement among global metal fans, deeming this appointment "entirely appropriate."

According to the article from the 22nd, while diplomatic appointments typically do not attract the interest of global metal enthusiasts, Lin’s band has been hailed as the "Asian Black Sabbath," and Finland is recognized as the country with the highest per capita number of metal bands.

Lin has a close relationship with Finland’s music scene, having performed in major cities there. Furthermore, Chthonic has released four albums in collaboration with the Finnish label Spinefarm Records.
