First Boeing 787 Crash: Indian Airlines AI171 Flight Goes Down, Only One Survivor

An Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8, flight AI171, crashed near Ahmedabad airport, carrying 242 passengers. Reports indicate that only one person survived this tragic event, leaving most onboard presumed dead. Former pilot and dashing captain James expressed his caution, stating, "Never fly with Indian Airlines!"
James emphasized his extensive flying experience in India, noting that he frequently operated routes through Ahmedabad. Upon reviewing the accident footage, he concluded that the aircraft’s landing gear was still deployed at the time of the crash, suggesting a possible dual engine failure led to the loss of power and subsequent descent.
The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed the flight had 242 individuals onboard, including 230 passengers, 10 crew members, and 2 pilots. The primary pilot had 8200 hours of flight experience, while the co-pilot had 1100 hours. As of the evening of the 12th Taiwan time, search and rescue teams had recovered 204 bodies, with investigations ongoing to assess any additional casualties among nearby residents.
Remarkably, a 40-year-old British passenger, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, who was seated in 11A, managed to escape the wreckage with clarity of mind. The causes of this crash are still to be thoroughly investigated, marking the first accident for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner since its inception.
