The Abduction of Bai Xiaoyan: A Series of Gruesome Events Due to Three Fugitives

In April 1997, Bai Bingbing's daughter, Bai Xiaoyan, was abducted on her way to school. After more than ten days without rescue, she was ultimately murdered, and her body was discarded in the Zhonggang River, shocking society. The police initiated Operation '0414' to fully pursue the suspects Chen Jinxing, Gao Tianmin, and Lin Chunsheng.
In the following seven months, these three criminals committed a series of violent acts, including a gunfight on Wuchang Street, a triple murder at a cosmetic surgery clinic, and the hostage situation involving the South African military attaché, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The manhunt concluded with one suspect shot dead, one committing suicide, and one convicted, becoming one of Taiwan's most notorious series of crimes.
During her daughter's disappearance, Bai Bingbing had a emotional plea for her daughter's safe return at a press conference, but ten days later, she received the tragic news of her daughter’s murder. An autopsy revealed Bai Xiaoyan had been severely abused prior to her death. Public outrage grew, and the police formed a task force to locate the kidnappers.
As police actions continued, a series of gunfights and violent incidents broke out, eventually resulting in two of the suspects being captured and one being killed in the operation. Justice was ultimately served as the law caught up with these criminals.
