Hong Kong Tycoon Kidnapped and Rescued After 38 Days of Horror

In September 2015, Hong Kong businessman Huang Kun was kidnapped in New Taipei City, Taiwan, plunging into a terrifying 38-day ordeal. During this time, the kidnappers sent a ransom email demanding HKD 70 million, specifically requesting payment in Bitcoin, marking the first case of cryptocurrency-related extortion in Taiwan.
The police quickly identified Huang's captivity location through a recorded plea for help and an image of him holding a local newspaper. Eventually, after 38 days, Huang was successfully rescued. Police arrested several suspects, including the main suspect Gan Jun Song. This case highlighted the evolution of criminal methods and became a key example of how police used technology to combat crime.
