Initially, viewers assumed a significant money transfer had occurred. Yet, informed comments quickly clarified that it was a mislabeling of currency, leading to a wave of laughter among viewers, with some quipping that the plot twist was more entertaining than a movie.

Adding to the humor, the so-called "million donation" sponsor appeared in the comments, claiming to be in Jakarta and expressing significant support for Guanchang, pointing out that there are many ethnic Chinese in Indonesia, thus it is normal to support him. Besides this misunderstanding, during the livestream, a fan also truly donated 299.99 USD, approximately 9000 Taiwan dollars, thanking him for his efforts towards cross-strait peace, earning him respect as a 'real man' among many viewers.

Guanchang’s trip to China was not only popular because of the donor story, but the dinner with celebrity Wang Xiaofei that attracted over 400,000 simultaneous viewers as well. This buzz even caught the attention of political figures, including Taiwanese legislators Fu Kun-chi and Hsu Chiao-hsin, who participated in the donation comments with rhetoric about peace and leaving a mark in history, prompting speculation regarding whether these messages genuinely belonged to them.
