African Swine Fever Virus Detected in Kinmen, Ban on Pork Products Exports to Taiwan

The Kinmen County government has announced that, as per the Ministry of Agriculture, starting immediately until June 23, all pigs and their carcasses, internal organs, fresh and processed products from the Kinmen area are banned from being exported to Taiwan and other outlying islands. This measure is in response to the first positive case of African Swine Fever virus detected in a marine-drifting dead pig this year in Kinmen. However, producers and products that have passed the risk assessment by the Ministry’s Animal Health Inspection and Quarantine Office are exempt from this ban.
This list includes numerous producers with products such as beef (pork) jerky, pork floss rice cakes, meat-filled pastries, and beef meal packages, totaling 16 manufacturers. Specific companies include Shengzu, Qiao'an, and Liangjin. The Kinmen County Animal Disease Control Center emphasizes the need for related businesses to strengthen biosecurity measures to effectively prevent the spread of African Swine Fever.
