Taiwan Publishing House Participates in Seoul Book Fair to Showcase Literary Charm

The Taiwan Publishing House is participating in the Seoul International Book Fair for the first time, aiming to present the remarkable stories and works of Taiwan to international readers and buyers. This event, themed "Taiwanese Sensibility," runs from the 18th to the 22nd, making Taiwan the theme country, showcasing three main topics: "Nature Writing," "Indigenous Literature," and the "Taiwan Literature Prize’s Classics Award."
The publishing house invites writers for lectures and translators for discussions, featuring 82 themed selections and their English translations for rights promotion. Additionally, artifacts by Qiu Miaojin and cultural products will be on display. The Seoul Book Fair is the largest book fair in Korea and holds significant influence in Asia. The Taiwan Publishing House, with support from the Ministry of Culture, hopes to integrate resources to elevate the visibility and impact of Taiwanese literary works on the international stage.
The exhibition carefully selects representative authors and works covering Chinese, English, and Korean themed books, aiming to deeply showcase the unique aspects and issues of Taiwanese literature across generations and genres. The publishing house states that Korean publishers and readers have recently shown increased interest in Taiwanese works, thus displaying this year’s English selections from the Taiwan Literature Prize, with a team dedicated to international rights promotion. To enhance understanding of Taiwanese literature, writers such as Wu Ming-yi, Dong Shuming, and Ping Lu will give talks, while a dialogue between writers and translators is also planned, showcasing various literary and creative products.
