Vietnamese Beauty Queen Under Investigation for Fraud! Tourism Bureau Terminates Contract and Seeks New Spokesperson

To attract international tourists, the Tourism Bureau invites well-known personalities from different countries each year to serve as Taiwan's tourism ambassadors. Last year, they targeted the Vietnamese market for the first time by inviting Vietnamese beauty queen Nguyen Thuy Tien. However, she has recently been arrested on fraud charges, prompting the bureau to terminate her contract in April and search for a new spokesperson.

In a promotional video, Nguyen Thuy Tien showcased her visit to Sun Moon Lake, enjoying the scenic views and Taiwanese cuisine with a bright smile.

Unfortunately, in March this year, she was accused of deceiving consumers and arrested by Vietnamese authorities. The controversy stems from her promotion of a brand of vegetable gummies, which claimed to contain dietary fibers equal to those found in an array of vegetables, but an investigation revealed that the actual fiber content was only 0.935%. Before being pulled from shelves, over 135,000 boxes of the product were sold, generating around 180 billion VND, with her earning approximately 7.91 million TWD in commission.

At 27 years old, Nguyen Thuy Tien, who won the 2021 Miss Grand International title and has over 2.7 million Instagram followers, is now facing backlash. The Tourism Bureau is looking for a new ambassador with a budget of 14.85 million TWD after this scandal.
