China Launches Evacuation Operation as Hundreds of Citizens Leave Iran

As air confrontations escalate between Israel and Iran, the Chinese government initiated an evacuation operation, successfully transporting hundreds of its citizens out of Iran.

On social media, various Chinese citizens have shared their experiences of fleeing, detailing their crossings into Turkmenistan, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Reports indicate that there are thousands of Chinese citizens residing in Iran, mostly engineers working for Chinese firms.

Initially, the Chinese embassy in Iran advised citizens to remain safe at their current locations, but some chose to leave independently. Official sources claim that 791 Chinese citizens have successfully moved to safe areas, with over 1,000 more in the process of evacuation.

Despite the tense situation, there are currently no reports of Chinese citizens injured in the ongoing conflict.

Iran serves as a crucial diplomatic foothold for China, key to the Belt and Road Initiative and an important source of discounted crude oil. Analysts warn that any significant weakening or shift in the Iranian regime could jeopardize China's strategic interests in the region.
