Zhang Zhijun Accused of Failing to Declare U.S. Property, Double Harmony Recall Team Calls for Public Explanation

According to reports from the real-time center, KMT legislator Zhang Zhijun is once again embroiled in a U.S. property controversy, with allegations that his wife, Peng Han, owns property in California that has not been declared. In response, the Double Harmony Recall Team issued a press release today calling for Zhang to provide a public explanation, stating that having overseas assets is not an issue, but lying and failing to report is an unforgivable breach of conduct.
Recently, KMT legislator Li Yanshi was also embroiled in allegations of failing to properly declare U.S. property; now Zhang Zhijun is similarly suspected of concealing a U.S. property. According to reports, Peng Han purchased a single-family home in California in June 2018 through a one-time payment, yet it has not been declared on required asset declaration forms.
Furthermore, records from the Integrity Journal show that in Zhang Zhijun’s asset declaration from March 16, 2024, there were no overseas assets reported, including the California property, but his office asserted that all declarations had been completed. The Double Harmony Recall Team criticized Zhang’s family, who are part of a wealthy construction family, suggesting that while owning property overseas is not unusual, as a sitting legislator, Zhang’s decision to conceal facts and fail to report is a serious disturbance to the trust of the constituents.
