Trump Administration Issues Ultimatum to 6800 International Students at Harvard, Facing Transfer Dilemma

The Trump administration has issued an ultimatum to Harvard University, demanding the immediate cancellation of international student admissions, placing approximately 6800 international students at risk of transferring. Recently, Trump made provocative comments to visiting South African President, suggesting white farmers are being slaughtered in South Africa, only to be debunked when it was revealed that the photo he used was from the Congo, causing a major uproar.

This situation at Harvard has intensified, as the U.S. government officially revokes Harvard's right to enroll international students, potentially impacting those currently studying. Harvard students express anxiety about their academic futures, unsure if they can return to campus under such policies. One student remarked, "It’s hard to say in this government, everything is uncertain."

It’s known that graduates in 2025 are allowed to proceed with their graduation ceremony next week, but those international students who have not graduated may face the loss of their legal residency status. Some international students are even reconsidering other universities; a parent from Taiwan shared that her daughter had just decided to attend Harvard, but is now looking into transferring to Oxford.

Beyond Harvard, the Trump administration has also accused Columbia University of being insensitive toward its Jewish students, demonstrating a continued attack on higher education institutions. Moreover, during Trump’s cryptocurrency dinner, enthusiastic supporters were seen brandishing his photo, indicating a strong following. This issue has prompted criticism from Democratic representatives, who deem Trump’s actions as rife with corruption.
