National Pilgrimage Draws Thousands in Hsinchu, Ko and Wang Rally Support for Recall Votes

The National Pilgrimage event reached northern Taiwan on Sunday, attracting large crowds in Hsinchu City, with thousands of motorbikes accompanying the procession. Democratic Progressive Party legislators Ko Chien-Ming and Wang Yi-Chuan attended to support the recall movement, while facing recall threats, Hsinchu Mayor Gao Hong-An and Kuomintang legislator Zheng Zheng-Qian appeared together, aiming to rescue their electoral situation.

The event saw enthusiastic supporters waving flags and bikers honking their horns in response, while some set off firecrackers and distributed drinks to cheer on the recall team. Ko Chien-Ming commented on the current political landscape, stating that dealing with budgets unlawfully would invoke public scorn, accusing certain officials of “selling out Taiwan and betraying the country.”

Recall spokesperson Lin Zhi-Jie stressed that only by recalling Gao and Zheng can the future of Hsinchu and Taiwan be secured. During this time, Mayor Gao promoted his achievements and emphasized the improvements in school meal quality.
