Taiwan-Paraguay-Japan Friendship Gathering Held in Tokyo, Paraguayan President Emphasizes Support for Taiwan

Paraguayan President Peña opened by speaking Taiwanese, thanking Taiwan, which drew an immediate round of applause. During his visit to Japan, as the head of state of Paraguay, Taiwan's only diplomatic ally in South America, he specially attended a trilateral friendship banquet.
The event featured traditional Paraguayan musical performances and Taiwanese cultural displays, with dishes such as braised pork rice and Paraguayan corn cakes served, symbolizing the friendship between the two nations.
President Peña noted that this was the first-ever Taiwan-Paraguay-Japan friendship gathering, expressing respect for both Japan and Taiwan, highlighting that their principles align completely with Paraguay. He reiterated that Taiwan is a central topic in all discussions, particularly due to the threats faced by their own survival, making the support for Taiwan's independence crucial.
He called on other countries to also support Taiwan, highlighting the attendance of Japan's Justice Minister Suzuki and 37 other lawmakers, which underscores the importance of trilateral relations. Over 500 participants attended the banquet, showing a positive outlook for regional cooperation.
