Shaun Norris Leads Japan PGA Championship, Closing in on Career Grand Slam

South African golfer Shaun Norris ended the first round of the Japan PGA Championship trailing Yuta Sugiura by four strokes, but today at Sanko Golf Club's Tanigumi course, he surged ahead with a remarkable 61, finishing an impressive eleven strokes under par.
Norris started at the tenth hole and began an incredible run starting from the eleventh, where he recorded five consecutive birdies. He added more birdies from the eighteenth to the second holes, then secured additional ones at the fifth, eighth, and ninth holes, totaling a score of 129, which is fifteen strokes under par. At 43 years old, Norris has a rich career history, originally launching his career in the South African Tour, and is now looking to become the seventh player to achieve a career Grand Slam in the Japan Tour.
Chasing him is fellow Japanese player Kosuke Suzuki, who shot a 68. In contrast, Sugiura, who started strong with a 64, ended with a 74, falling to a tie for tenth place, nine strokes behind Norris.
