Korean Election Vote Counting Underway! Lee Jae-myung Leads by Less than 3 Percent

The South Korean presidential election took place today (3rd) and ended voting at 8 PM local time (7 PM Taiwan time). The vote counting is currently underway, with a total of 20.24% of the votes counted so far. Candidate Lee Jae-myung from the Democratic Party has received 47.70% of the votes, while candidate Kim Moon-soo from the People Power Party has 44.10%. The gap between them is approximately 3 percentage points.

According to exit polls conducted by the three major South Korean broadcasters, Lee Jae-myung's predicted vote share is 51.7%, while Kim Moon-soo's is projected at 39.3%. However, as the official counting began, the vote tally fluctuated, and despite Lee Jae-myung's current lead, there is no significant advantage as indicated by the exit polls.

Additionally, reformist New Party candidate Lee Jun-suk has already announced his defeat, with an exit poll prediction of 7.7% of the votes. Lee Jun-suk expressed that he does not regret not uniting with Kim Moon-soo, stating that both sides never seriously considered collaboration. He also emphasized that the conservative camp should focus on innovative measures to respond to voters rather than just merging.
