California Doctor Sues Restaurant for Burns Caused by Spicy Thai Dish
Dr. Harjasleen Walia, a neurologist from San Jose, California, suffered burns to her mouth, esophagus, and vocal cords after eating an excessively spicy appetizer called 'Dragon Balls' at a restaurant named 'Coup de Thai'. Despite the restaurant's denial of her claims, she has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation.
In her lawsuit filed in July 2023, Walia stated that she had requested a milder spiciness but still experienced a burning sensation. She is now seeking compensation for her medical expenses and losses due to being unable to work.
