College Student Tricked into Exploitation in Cambodia Rescued After Three Months
A college student from the Shalu District of Taichung, who comes from a low-income family, fell victim to a job scam in Cambodia after believing there were work opportunities available there. She traveled with a classmate, only to be entrapped in a fraud scheme for three months. Today, she returned safely to Taoyuan Airport thanks to the efforts of her elderly grandfather and police cooperation.
After receiving a distress message from his granddaughter, her grandfather wired NT$136,000 to secure her release, but the scammers continued demanding more money. Following police intervention and collaborative efforts from various parties, the two students were eventually released and returned to Taiwan to reunite with their families.
