Former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol Accused of Misusing Public Funds for Pet Pool

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is under fire for allegedly misusing public funds to construct a pool for his pets. Reports suggest that Yoon and his wife, Kim Keon-hee, established a small swimming pool in the garden of their official residence in Hannam-dong, significantly increasing water usage during their stay.
Recently, during a dinner with the party leadership at the official residence, current President Lee Jae-myung pointed out the pool, which has raised suspicions about its intended use. Experts from related design companies have stated that the water level in the pool aligns with standards for heated pools, indicating it could be constructed for pets.
According to South Korean law, construction of such pool facilities must be reported to local authorities, but this pool reportedly was not reported. Additionally, there are concerns that there may have been attempts to evade scrutiny during the relocation review of the residence, as the facility has not completed registration for over two years.
The issue also corresponds with previous allegations regarding increased water usage at the presidential residence during Yoon's tenure. Criticism has intensified as it appears that public resources may have been abused to cater to personal preferences, following earlier accusations related to the purchase of an expensive cat tower for their pet.
