JJ Lin's Concert Sparks Controversy with Mention of Chinese Place Names, Fans Rush to Defend Him

Grammy Award-winning artist JJ Lin kicked off his "JJ20 FINAL LAP World Tour" at Taipei Arena, drawing over 80,000 fans. However, some audience members expressed dissatisfaction on social media when he mentioned several Chinese place names during his performance of the song "Those Adventurous Dreams."
Fans took to platforms like Threads to voice their complaints, with one saying, "I can hardly wait for 'Those Adventurous Dreams,' only to have him mention place names throughout!" Another fan remarked, "JJ is the worst concert experience I’ve ever had."
In response, other fans defended Lin, stating that the mention of place names is a fixed part of the show, and he does the same for fans in other cities. They also pointed out that Lin is Singaporean, which could explain his insensitivity toward cross-strait issues.
