Private Plane Crash in San Diego: 15 Homes on Fire
Early in the morning on May 22, 2023, a private plane crash occurred in San Diego, California. A Cessna 550 small aircraft crashed into the Murphy Canyon residential area, igniting approximately 15 buildings and prompting the evacuation of residents from several blocks.
Deputy Fire Chief Eddie reported that the site is covered with aviation fuel, and rescue teams are conducting door-to-door searches to ensure resident safety. The incident took place in heavy fog, significantly reducing visibility and complicating rescue efforts.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft was scheduled to land at the nearby Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, but the number of people on board and possible casualties remain unknown.
