India Airlines Plane Crash: 242 on Board, Only 2 Survivors

A Boeing 787 aircraft belonging to India Airlines crashed today (12th) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. While authorities initially feared that all 242 people on board were dead, reports now indicate that two survivors have been found. One of the survivors, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, was seated in 11A, while his brother, who was in a different row, remains missing.
The flight AI 171 was scheduled to travel from India to Gatwick Airport in London but crashed shortly after takeoff. The aircraft had 12 crew members, including 2 pilots, and 230 passengers, of which 169 were from India, 53 from the UK, 1 from Canada, and 7 from Portugal. The rescue operation is ongoing.
G.S. Malik, the police chief in Ahmedabad, stated, "A survivor was found in seat 11A and has been taken to the hospital for treatment." As of now, 204 bodies have been recovered, and 41 injured individuals have been transported to the hospital. Vishwash recalled, "Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud crash and then the plane went down. It all happened so quickly." He was terrified to see bodies all around him.
