Metropolitan Museum of Art Masterpieces Exhibition Opens in Taipei with 81 Original Works

Starting June 14, the "From Impressionism to Modernism: Masterpieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art" exhibition opens at the National Palace Museum's northern branch, showcasing 81 original artworks. This exhibition is a collaboration between the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Palace Museum, organized in conjunction with Shih Yi Multimedia, with Cathay Financial Holdings as the main sponsor and Eva Air assisting in the transportation of paintings to Taiwan.

Notable guests at the opening ceremony included President Lai Ching-te, AIT Director Laura Rosenberger, and Taipei 101 Chairperson Jennifer Chang (who recorded an audio guide for the exhibition), highlighting the significance of this exhibition across political, commercial, and cultural sectors.

The exhibition features masterpieces from 38 artists spanning from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century, including works by Van Gogh, Matisse, Seurat, and Mary Cassatt. The artworks are organized into five thematic sections: "Body Postures," "Portraits and Figures," "Wandering in Nature," "From City to Countryside," and "Waterfront Scenery," guiding visitors through the responses of artists to societal changes and aesthetic pursuits.

The exhibition runs until October 12, inviting the public to experience these artistic treasures firsthand.
