Japanese Band Penthouse Holds First Solo Concert in Taipei with Special Guest 9m88

Today, the emerging Japanese City Soul band Penthouse held their first-ever solo concert at Legacy TERA in Taipei, featuring a surprise appearance by Taiwanese R&B diva 9m88. The concert, likened to a midnight feast, showcased several of their popular songs that delighted the audience.

The show opened with an energetic performance of Welcome to the Penthouse, followed by Friday’s High and 一難, steadily ramping up the atmosphere. Lead vocalist Shintaro Namikawa expressed his joy at returning to Taiwan for their first solo performance, thanking the audience for their support. Maho Ohshima, the other vocalist, shared her delightful experience of enjoying local cuisine upon their arrival in Taipei.

Throughout the concert, the band showcased a diverse array of musical styles with performances of Taxi to the moon, Identify, and Change the world. A special highlight was the heartfelt duo performances by Namikawa and Ohshima, captivating the audience.

As the concert reached its climax, the surprise appearance of 9m88 electrified the venue as she joined Penthouse to perform their collaborative track Kitchen. In the latter part of the concert, the band continued to energize the crowd with fast-paced songs such as Jukebox Driver, 夏に願いを, and 26時10分, encouraging the audience to dance along.

When expressing gratitude in Chinese to the audience, Namikawa noted how special it was to perform in Taiwan, reiterating their commitment to return. The concert concluded on a joyful note with Namikawa playfully conducting an audience sing-along of I love you, before closing with their new song Planetary and the beloved …もし恋に落ちたら.
