130 Participants Join Kōka Ninja Certification Exam Testing Skills and History

Today (15th), the 17th Kōka Ninja Certification Exam was held in Kōka City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, attracting 130 ninja culture enthusiasts from across the country, aged between 9 and 80. The event tested participants' understanding of ninja history and skills through written exams and practical competitions.
According to reports, the ninja certification is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. All participants must complete a written test on ninja history, culture, and the names of ninjutsu. Beginners can earn extra points through ninja costumes and shuriken throwing.
A participant from Okayama City expressed his surprise at the many well-dressed attendees. While some questions were new to him, he still felt confident about passing. Another participant from Tokyo acknowledged that others had prepared more seriously than he expected, which left him impressed, but he also felt unconfident due to a lack of review.
In addition to the written exam, many participants found the practical shuriken throwing memorable. A participant from Urayasu City in Chiba Prefecture noted a significant difference between his practice and competition results, while another from Nagoya mentioned he scored nothing and realized how much heavier the shuriken was than he anticipated. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The organizers highlighted that the exam aims to teach the public about the history and culture of ninjas, deepening their understanding of Kōka City. Those who pass will receive a certificate in the form of a scroll during the award ceremony, officially becoming a 'Kōka Ninja.'
