Dong Yuan Elementary School Qualifies for LLB Asia-Pacific Little League Championship After 8 Years, Heading to Korea

The city government has provided funding to support Dong Yuan Elementary School's participation in the championship in Korea. In March this year, Dong Yuan defeated Taoyuan’s Guishan Elementary School 11-5 in the national little league championship finals, marking their return to the LLB Asia-Pacific Little League Championship after eight years. They will head to Korea on June 23.

During the flag presentation ceremony, Mayor Jiang Wan-an presented the flag of the Chinese Olympic Committee to Principal Chen Yu-ching, while the city flag was given to Head Coach Lai Min-nan and Captain Chen Shih-hung. Dong Yuan Elementary School is one of the iconic baseball schools in Taipei, with an 82-year history of nurturing numerous outstanding players, including those currently playing in professional teams. This year, they also won their first championship in the hardball division of the elementary baseball league.

This trip to Korea represents a significant milestone for the team, aiming for a record in their history as they have qualified for the Asia-Pacific Little League Championship for the fourth time. The education bureau indicated that the team prepared a self-composed cheer song to welcome Mayor Jiang, expressing hopes to advance to the U.S. and wishing for a delicious meal. Key pitcher Lin Jin-ze practiced hitting with the mayor, adding excitement to the ceremony. This year, the education and sports bureaus jointly contributed 1.8 million NTD for the trip, with additional support from local organizations providing 100 safety talismans for the children.
