Chen Ying's Recall Petition Fails to Meet Requirements, Calls for KMT Leadership to Publicly Apologize

The recall petition against Democratic Progressive Party legislator Chen Ying and Wu Lihua did not meet the required signatures, resulting in its failure. Chen stated that this outcome represents a victory for democratic processes and protection of indigenous dignity.

She criticized Kuomintang chairperson Eric Chu for arrogantly claiming that "indigenous people are the easiest to recall," calling such statements a disgrace to the democratic competencies of indigenous peoples. Chen noted most leaders of the petition were non-indigenous party staff manipulating the process, undermining indigenous rights.

She demanded that Eric Chu and Huang Jian-ting publicly apologize to the indigenous peoples and take full responsibility for their actions, affirming the significance of indigenous representation in parliament. Chen emphasized her commitment to fighting alongside her people in defense of their rights.
