Tragic Stampede During Bengaluru Cricket Team's Title Celebration Causes 11 Deaths

On June 4, a tragic stampede erupted during the celebration of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory in the Indian Premier League in Bengaluru, southern India.
According to reports, the team clinched their first IPL title on June 3 after narrowly defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs. The streets were filled with crowds celebrating the team's return, which led to an unfortunate push and stampede incident. As of local time 6 PM, reports confirmed 11 deaths and over 40 injuries.
Witnesses stated that many fans attempted to rush into the venue as the team was entering, resulting in chaos. The police and emergency personnel quickly initiated rescue efforts to transport the injured to hospitals.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar apologized for the incident, noting that while over 5,000 officers were deployed, the crowd exceeded 100,000, making it challenging to manage the situation. The opposition has criticized the government for its lack of preparedness and has called for a judicial investigation.
