Cambodian Student Rescued and Return Home, Grandfather Finally at Ease

A female college student from Taichung, Li, along with her classmate Lin, was deceived and taken to Cambodia. Li's grandfather borrowed money everywhere in an attempt to ransom them but was possibly cheated by intermediaries, leading him to plead for government assistance. With the intervention of the police, the two women were rescued and flew directly from Phnom Penh to Taoyuan today (7th).
Li's grandfather expressed, "My granddaughter is finally home, and I can finally sleep well again." He also mentioned plans to take his granddaughter to a temple to pray and express gratitude, feeling relieved after such a long ordeal.
The two college students flew directly from Phnom Penh to Taoyuan Airport at noon, arriving safely in the evening, with international criminal police and local detectives from Taichung City waiting to escort them home.
They reported that they were initially attracted by a recruitment advertisement promising a monthly salary of 30,000, consequently quickly obtaining passports and traveling to Cambodia. Recalling their time in the scam facility, both felt lingering fear. Lin mentioned, "We were threatened daily, warned that if we didn't cooperate, we would face consequences. To leave, we needed to pay a toll of 3,000 USD (around 90,000 TWD) for both of us."
